Wildwood Sailing Club
Lots of wind, new members joining the race and a first-time entrant winning the Wildwood Cup for 2016 made Saturday's race an exciting one. And lots of fun for participants and spectators!
And the Wildwood Cup for 2016 goes to Kent and Donna in a very speedy Albacore! Second place goes to Dave and Leslie in their McVay Minuet. And a big thanks to Les for volunteering to organize the races; figuring out the new flag system, getting the starting blast to work and doing all of that math! This was Les's last race. Now it's his turn to get back on the water and race, but he will be around to advise a new volunteer. (And do the math!) Thanks again to Les for all of his hard work.
It was a beautiful day for the Rum Runner, although the wind was a little light! However, participants made the best of it and the challenge of finding and using the wind to the best of their abilities. From time to time the wind rallied and made things exciting. Thankfully, Les called the race so the last few racers wouldn't miss the club supper!
Congratulations to Rob and Margrit Johnson on winning the Rum Runner in their DS16 for the third time in a row! And congratulations to Donal O'Connor for sailing into second place in his Minuet. Cheers!
