Ahoy All, FYI. This attachment received today from Wildwood Conservation Area regarding reservoir level and possible impacts for boaters. Donal O'Connor WSC Commodore Donal Please see attached newsletter and share with your fellow members. The document isn't specific to the club so some of the info isn't relevant, but there is still valuable information in it. Additional information will be available in the coming weeks as we monitor levels and are able to make clearer decisions on the impacts. Also, staff installed a game camera at the sailing club gate yesterday. We will monitor this camera and pass on any information of value. Regards Paul Switzer Superintendent Wildwood Conservation Area Ahoy All,
We have been informed by Wildwood Conservation Area that the waterway will now be opened to motorized watercraft starting Tuesday, May 25. That firm opening date triggers sailing club preparations for launching and docking boats. The process will most likely be gradual, much like last year, with a small select crew first installing the launch jetty and another installing at least a section of our overall docks to which we can later attach additional docking. That approach is shared by Docks Director Hans Rosch and Les Leonhardt who will coordinate the work. As with last year, we will still be subject to cautionary limits on work crew numbers so we do not anticipate a customary call-up of all members for a docks installation and clean-up day. Hans will schedule assembly work and organize crews as needed. On the clean-up front, our Grounds Director Phil Christie has already been attending to grass cutting, and of course any member who can handle a rake is welcome to clear debris off of a path or the vehicle parking area or to clean a chair or two on the patio. Here's looking to a fun sailing season at Wildwood! Donal O'Connor WSC Commodore Ahoy All,
Here's good news from Wildwood CA. Waterway to open for non-motorized watercraft May 21. Enjoy! Donal O'Connor WSC Commodore From: Paul Switzer <switzerp@thamesriver.on.ca> To: Donal O'Connor <donoconn@bell.net> Date: May 17, 2021 at 2:58 PM Here is an update on the current plan for opening. With the extension of the stay at home order we have had to delay camping until June 3rd. We will be starting to charge dayuse admission fees on May 21st for access to the trails. The reservoir will be accessible for non-motorized watercraft (canoes/kayaks) at that time. Motorized watercraft will not be permitted until the stay at home order is lifted due to the volume of traffic it would generate. We are asking cottagers/ sailing club to refrain from using motorized watercraft at this time. Current water levels and lack of rainfall this spring are causing concern for boating this summer. Information is being developed this week on water levels and the restrictions that could impact watercraft this summer if the current trend continues. I will forward this information as soon as it's available. If you have any questions let me know. Paul Switzer Superintendent Wildwood Conservation Area |
