The Wildwood Cup for 2018 took place on August 18th following the third race cancellation for the season! This was a record number of cancellations for the club and even during Saturday's race the weather was less than cooperative. The course took competitors around markers set in the top end of the reservoir and because the wind was up, five laps were planned. But Mother Nature had other plans! As sailors approached the start and the wind was slowing, word went out that there would only be four laps. As the wind slowed, boats were left drifting slowly around markers and waiting to make the most of the next puff of wind that came along. Thankfully, Les raised the blue flag to let racers know that the number of laps had been reduced to three. Donal, in his Minuet, and Joe, in his Laser, led the pack for the duration of the race but the points system gave the win to Dave & Leslie and second place to Donal, in their Minuets. Congratulations to all of the participants who made the most of a challenging day and many thanks to Les and his team who made the races possible in an unpredictable season!
Next up; the Fun Rally which will take place on Sunday, August the 26th followed by dinner at 5:00 with the Annual General Meeting to follow. See you there!

Finally! Again the weather delayed the second race of the 2018 season but finally the race took place on Saturday July the 29th. With 6 sailboats heading vying for the rum, Les Leonhardt took first place in his Edel 665 and Donal O'Connor nabbed second place in his Minuet. Congratulations to the winners and everyone who participated in the Rum Runner!
